Alright, hot off the success of the last poll, I've decided to double-up. This one may also spawn some variations in the future but I don't think it's as restrictive as the last one. Time will tell. On a sidenote ... those of you that haven't commented on the last poll (you're about to be dropped from the x-mas card list), hit that one first.
Okay, here goes. This one is from the magical world of TV Land where almost every catastrophe imaginable can be wrapped up in about a half hour or an hour. SO, if you could live in any TV world, what would it be? Actually, let's make this another "pick three" because, well, picking one is just too hard most of the time.
I was going to exclude cartoons but, what the hell, go wild. If you want to live with the Flintstones or the Jetsons, be my guest :-)
Well, get on with it. Tell me if you want to live in Melrose Place or go to high school at Beverly Hills High in 90210. Tell me if you want to hang out with Raymond and his freak-ass family or all of your Friends down at Central Perk. Tell me if you want to drive Kit, fly Airwolf or maybe just cruise around in the A-Team van with Hannibal, Mr. T, Peck and Murdock. Alright, I don't want to be accused of leading the audience. I hope that was enough to get you going.
Have at it!
This poll has been ruminating around in the back of my mind for a while and after flipping by Top Gun again this week only for someone else in the room to utter "I've never seen it.", I decided it was time to get it out. While this blows my mind every time, it also makes me wonder if maybe I'm the only one that thinks this movie is a "classic" that everyone has seen. The simple fact that the number of Air Force recruits has never been higher than the six month period following the release of the movie is enough for me to declare this movie a "must see". When you move on to consider the cast (Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, Tom Skerritt, Michael Ironside, Tim Robbins, Meg Ryan, etc.), it's a slam dunk.
SO, here's the poll. If you had to pick three movies from the 80's as "must see" or "classic" movies, what would they be? (If this is a popular enough poll, I'll expand it to other eras or specific genres in subsequent polls.) Have at it!
Okay, the More Than Words re-make I heard on the radion this morning (twice) is possibly THE WORST RE-MAKE I'VE EVER HEARD.
On another radio-related note ... WZZO has played Paradise City every single morning this week. Not that playing Paradise City is unusual for WZZO who seems to play it several times a week if not a day but EVERY morning this week?? ... c'mon, people can't possibly like it that much.
Alright, seeing as how I don't have anything pressing to post, I'll share with you some photos of Karen and Mike's dog, Sully.
Here was the agenda ... check balances, allocate funds, pay bills, read mail (three magazines, one credit card offer), start web work for Eisenhard's, get new "instructions" webpage added to another website, start writing up project proposal for existing customer and write a few emails.
Here's what happened instead ... I had just checked my balances when I decided to hop on Ebay to see what was new on eBay motors. As I was looking at some things I had bookmarked last week, I realized that it was Tuesday night and Overhaulin or Rides might be on TV, SO, I hopped into the other room and found Overhaulin. As I flipped around during commercials, I found that Alien Vs. Predator was also on HBO or some other pay-channel. Even though I had seen it in the theater, I wanted to see it again to see if I'd like it any better or worse (my opinion remains pretty much the same as it did originally ... a kick-ass idea with a terrible plot, terrible science, and terrible dialog that still rocks for the ten or so minutes that actually involve Aliens fighting Predators). I wound up watching the last hour and a half of the movie while checking back to Overhaulin often enough to see a beautiful transformation of a 1995 Tahoe for a guy that donated his kidney to his friend. The movie ended at 10:30 and when I ran downstairs to grab a snack I found my dad watching Boston Legal which I TOTALLY forgot about (DAMN you ABC for moving the show to Tuesdays and let's get the new season started already!!) so I watched the last half hour of that show. During the last set of commercials for Boston Legal, I flipped around and found the final DCI (Drum Corp International) competition of the year in Mass. from a couple weeks ago on ESPN2. I had already missed the first hour but there was still an hour of competition left so I watched that until midnight. After that program was over (I caught the last five performances or so which just so happened to be the top five performances - creative editing?) I watched enough Sportscenter / Baseball Tonight to see Smoltz beat Martinez again.
I'm hoping that tonight works out a little closer to my original gameplan.
I thought I'd take a moment to usher in the month of September so, hello there, September.
Today is a special day not only because it's the first day of September but because it's the first day of the college football season and, well, my Saturdays are now booked through the last bowl games in January. I'm SO looking forward to another good season.
