As some of you may or may not know, my hair is probably longer now than it has ever been before. It needs to be cut. I'm just not sure if I'm gonna go with the standard-status-quo-don't-rock-the-boat trim or whether I make good on intimations that I might just buzz it all off.
Not straight-edged-razored-bald or anything but a nice 1/4" - 1/5" buzz (which I've never had). I've been wavering ... still am. In fact, the decision will probably be made sometime AFTER I actually get in the chair and BEFORE they start cutting.
For those that couldn't have guessed ... it's official, Philadelphia is the most depressed city in the USA according to this article on MSN. Is it the sports? The weather? The looming shadows of so many other large cities (NYC, Washington DC, Boston, etc.)?
I think it all started when The Best of Philadelphia magazine picked a steak sandwich shop in NJ as having the best Philly cheesesteaks ... but that's just me.
To follow up on a post from a month or two ago ... Yahoo! has decided to allow family members of a deceased soldier to access to his emails. I'm not entirely sure if this was court ordered, simply pressured by public opinion or settled because Yahoo! was going to lose in trial. Regardless, you might want to be careful about what you leave on public email servers. I, for one, probably wouldn't care if people got my email after I die ... that's pretty much because I'd be DEAD. At any point BEFORE that, however, hell no :-)
I don't think I've gone an entire week without posting since I started this blog. My creativity just isn't flowing in the blogging direction ... I'm sure it will soon.
Well, it's been a while since I've posted a poll and this one was spawned as randomly as most of the others. I was watching my boy C.Webb and the Sixers play last night and, during a commercial break, flipped around a bit. To my surprise, I stumbled on one of my favorite 80's movies, The Breakfast Club. First off, wow, that movie REALLY gets voice-overed for public TV. Secondly, after all these years, it still draws me in.
After a couple minutes, it went to a commercial and I realized that I totally forgot about the b-ball game I was watching. I flipped back and only missed a minute or two of the game but I couldn't believe how quickly I had forgotten. Not that this hasn't happened to me many times before but I was really into the b-ball game that night. NEway, rambling aside ... I think I like movies so much because I enjoy seeing new perspectives. I try to relate to the characters and try to see things from a different point of view.
Where is this going? Have patience my eager pollsters ... here we go ...
If you could be a character in any 80's movie, which character would it be and why? Does he / she mirror who you think you are? Does he / she do something you've always wanted to do? Does he / she have the life you've always dreamed of? Those are just some ideas, please feel free to expand them or ignore them as you see fit, enjoy!
Yesterday, after a particularly stressful day of work, my coworker said to me "ya know, these are the days that make me think about leaving the field". He quickly followed with "but I don't know what else I'd do because this is what I'm actually good at".
Given the beautiful weather we're having, it's already tough for me to think about my job while I look out my window and see the cloudless sky (an absolute rarity in the valley). With him mentioning "leaving the field" it was just the extra nudge I needed to seriously consider it again.
Okay, okay, it's not so much "leaving the field" (because I have no idea where I'd go) as it is joining the ranks of the field-less. (It's not like America would collapse if I didn't work another summer, right?) This year, however, I'm doing my absolute best to limit vacations to just three weeks or LESS ... I'm really going to fight the urge to cut my hours back, eschew responsibility and increase time spent in the sun ... only time will tell.
Wow, where DOES the time go? Regular visitors of this site will realize that as the weather improves, my time spent posting will decrease. Hopefully, I'll find time, motiviation and a modicum of inspiration soon enough but, for now, I haven't seen weather this beautiful in the LV for quite some time and I've done everything I can to take it all in.
There's nothing like a beautiful day to get the creative juices flowing and I've got a few things I'm considering as creative outlets. As soon as I narrow it down to one or two, I'll let everyone know.
J, as is his habit, sent me like a gazillion links today. As is my habit, I tried to look at all of them. Not only that, I found one or two links from those links that I had to check out as well. The following was one of those.
Which one is your favorite?
