money

I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible. I will be more financially responsible.

Just as soon as I buy some more stuff, really.

No, you won't. No, you won't. No, you won't. No, you won't. No, you won't. No, you won't.

The sooner you reach inner peace with your spendthrift nature, the happier you'll be!

What did you get??!?

Posted by: Garrett at November 10, 2004 06:20 PM

haha, I didn't get anything yet ... well, that's a lie ... my AMEX bills the last two months have been a bit ridiculous with here-and-there items that seem to accumulate pretty quickly ... however, I didn't get anything BIG ... that might change soon, I'll keep ya posted :-)

Tom, you'd never believe it...but I have become quite the spendthrift :) It could be because I am forced to, living in a city where my rent alone could more than pay all of your bills. But, I can't complain, it's a great city. If you need a lesson in thriftiness, call me.

Posted by: lori at November 11, 2004 02:45 PM

It's all relative... :-)

Posted by: Garrett at November 11, 2004 05:15 PM

Hmmm ... don't underestimate the size of my bills, A-town or not, I've spent serious coin lately, hahaha. I think I UNDERSTAND thriftiness ... that's not really the fundamental problem ... it's just no FUN ... but I'll consider your offer for a lesson or two :-)

Posted by: languorous at November 11, 2004 05:23 PM

You are correct, it is no fun. I want many things :( Maybe I have come to realize that I don't really NEED them. Bummer.

Posted by: Lori at November 11, 2004 07:46 PM

Lori, I don't think spendthrift means what you think it means.

Posted by: Jason at November 12, 2004 12:22 AM

yes i do. it means not buying what i dont need. and when i do buy something, to get the best deal. insult my knowledge of spendthriftiness, will you?

Posted by: Lori at November 12, 2004 02:25 PM

Sorry Lori, not to insult but, as per Webster, the definition of spendthrift is as follows: "a person who spends improvidently or wastefully" ... I'm pretty sure that's not what you were going for.

touche

fine then. i spend money wisely. forget all the fancy words.

Posted by: Lori at November 12, 2004 05:44 PM

I believe the word you're looking for is: "miser" or "skinflint" ;-)

Posted by: Garrett at November 12, 2004 06:09 PM

haha, garrett...did you just call me a miser? that doesn't seem right... :)

Posted by: Lori at November 12, 2004 07:54 PM

"skinflint"

By far one of the most under-used and underappreciated words of the English language.

A not-so-distant cousin of the "skinflute"

wow have we gotten off the actual topic :-) hehehehee yeah, Im sure someday I will be financially responsible.. In fact, I think I have grown a bit better lately. I just dont generally sacrifice experiences for saving money. In the past couple of years I have spent the most money going on trips and what not, and I cant say that I regret that at all. As long as I keep myself within some reason, I can pay off all my bills, and still have a good time. That being said, its Christmas time, UGH! that is always hard on the check book. 3 years ago I got myself my own Christmas present of an HDTV, maybe this year Ill buy a Motorcycle :-)

My arm has been twisted long enough. I will commment, but only in the hope of promoting the financial responsibility. Forget the inner peace garbage and say hello to savings account deposits.
