sexist

Okay, I don't really "watch" Desperate Housewives but I happen to be around when it's on TV at my house. I cannot believe that ABC would be so sexist. My biggest gripe is the affair between the married woman and the highschool guy. If the genders were reversed, the show would have been taken off the air within days. Every week that goes by the audience is almost compelled to root for the affair to succeed as opposed to the marriage. That blows my mind. It really does. If some middle-aged guy was having an affair with a highschool girl, he'd be thrown in jail or the audience would at LEAST be rooting for the wife to catch him so he gets in trouble. Really, it's messed up.

Middle-aged man seduces innocent teen girl = disgusting pig.

Middle-aged woman seduces young man = romantic lovestory.

Puzzling, indeed. Where's Gar's copy of "The Moral Compass" when you need it?!?

Okay, I'll look past the fact that you're judging my favorite show of the season, and respond to your post. Your claim is correct-- the stigma attached to a man seducing a young high school girl is much different from the reversed scenario, but you have to also consider that if the neighbor(mike i belive his name is), whose character has been on dates w/numerous ladies around the town, were actually a woman, the character would be looked at as a promiscuous slut, as opposed to an eligible, desirable bachelor Double standards exist, but I wouldnt go so far as to call the show sexist.
FYI: I actually am rooting for the marriage as opposed to the affair... above and beyond looks, older, secure men are much more appealing to me than high school boys haha.

Well if a guy wants to pick up a high school chick like that lady picked up a high school guy, I'd like him to be viewed in the same favorable light, that's all :-)

It only happened because her husband is an ass. It is a great show. You should watch Nip Tuck right after it...there may be a hint of sexism there as well.

No way ... 10:00pm is Boston Legal, quite possibly the best show on TV! :-)

Oh of course! Not to worry, Sunday is actually the day the play Nip Tuck for the second time. you can really catch it on Tuesday nights! Isn't that great news :)

That IS great news unless it's still on at 10 because that's when I watch the last season of NYPD Blue, haha, really, it only SOUNDS like I watch a lot of TV.

hahahaha, you people all watch too much TV! (well, maybe I just dont watch enough, I dont know) Yeah, total double standard absolutely. My favorite example of this was over the summer, when we were down in the outer banks, listening to that radio station. All the talk was about that school teacher who seduced the fourteen year old guy. I know everyone in that vehicle was rooting for that kid! Hahahahaha (for those that were there, Italian/NYC accent:
ya know, I was feeling things I never felt befo')
