new hampshire

I was behind a car with a New Hampshire license plate today on my way to work. It said "Live Free or Die".

No one I know gives a lot of repect to the state of New Hampshire but, c'mon, that's a bad ass motto. Without knowing too many others, I'm prepared to declare it the best state motto in the US. Any thoughts?

I really like two...

Hawaii

Ua Mau Ke Ea O Ka Aina I Ka Pono (The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness). I chose it because I love that they are calling themselves righteous. I was once asked by an ex-boyfriends dad if I lived a righteous lifestyle. I told him yes :) Given he is a pretty religious man, I think we might have different definitions of what righteous really means.

Oregon

Alis volat Propriis (She flies with her own wings) (1987). This I chose because you know me, always rooting for my ladies. Plus, I loooove Oregon :)

I've always loved New Hampshire's motto. That state's small but feisty. The only other motto that can hold a candle to it is New York's "Excelsior." And if you know why I think that, you're a gigantic nerd.

Yea, I have seen those at Muhlenberg. The people from New Hampshire are very proud of their motto. I would be too. It is an awesome one. Too bad we (Americans) are losing more and more of our freedomes everyday. I think if PA would change their license plate motto to match our travel ad ours too would be great. For those that do not know our travel slogan it is : Come to Pennsylvania, the State of Independence.

You have to understand what it's like to live in New Hampshire...The only landmark of note is a mountain-side that (quite loosely) resembles a profile of a face; and even that crumbled into dust a few years back.
