soundtracks

Okay, I'm a movie-guy and I'm also a music-guy. SO, what better poll than movie soundtracks? What's the "best" one? How did you determine "best"? If the "best" one isn't your favorite, what's your favorite?

One of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time is Gardenstate. Not to mention a bomb movie as well :)

Oh sorry. I determined it was the best...well, because it is :)

Ha, that's funny because Garden State's soundtrack is already a "bargin bin" CD in most shops. I've only ever heard the "sampler" on Amazon and it sounded like a bunch of college-teenager-angst stuff. Maybe I'll try to listen to the whole thing sometime.

Its only in the Bargin Bin so the whole world can afford to buy it :)

Off of the top of my head, I'd say the soundtrack to Snatch. Just a great, and funny, collection of cool/strange music. Fits the movie perfectly.

I love the soundtrack to the Thomas Crown Affair because it is very different music that you do not hear on the radio. And the movie rocks as well:-)

Can't say I recall one note of Snatch's soundtrack. The music from the Thomas Crown Affair IS a nice change of pace for most modern movies.

For "BEST" soundtrack, I've gotta go with Star Wars. Not only do people know the main theme but most also know Vader's music as well as some other pieces.

John William's does TONS of soundtracks so I'll give a shout-out to Jaws (who doesn't know that one??), Indiana Jones, E.T. and even Harry Potter.

As for my favorite? I'm not sure. I like a bunch of John Williams stuff with Star Wars probably being my favorite. I think Braveheart is a great match of music and film. I think Back to the Future is another great match (and good instrumental music to boot).

Shout-outs to The Rock and Mortal Kombat for great main themes.

Yes, I know, I know. How could I forget to mention ANY 80's soundtracks? WELL, I do like some 80's soundtracks but I don't remember them that well to select any of them.

James Bond-- "Live and Let Die" -- but the James Bond theme alone works. Also shout out to the Mission Impossible theme.

Fucking Band-o.

Whoa, no new polls? Wow, you might actually need to, like, generate some content or something. Revolutionary!

Posted by: Jason at November 9, 2005 12:55 AM

I totally agree with the Band-O comment. Instrumental does not make a soundtrack. Besides Star Wars sucks as a movie.

I like the EMPIRE RECORDS soundtrack - The movie ROCKS also! The only disappointment is that the movie had better songs than the soundtrack.

The Best Soundtrack Of All Time Is - The soundtrack to Resevoir Dogs - sounds of the 70's - Hooked On A Feeling, Little Green Bag, Stuck In the Middle, and many more! Besides Quentin Tarratino is GOD!!!!

J, your jealousy has been noted. I know you wish you had the requisite skills to play an instrument or sing two correct notes in a row but hating on those that do is not the answer :-)

As for generating content, people seem to like the polls. They save me time and amuse my audience ... works for me.

I swear I don't know that Dopey16 guy.

I dont know who he is either. But, I do love the Empire Records Soundtrack. For the sake of our friendship Tom, I will refrain myself from comments about Star Wars. I know it deserves its merits, even if its not for me :)
