favorite TV shows, as an "adult"

Spurred by one of my favorite TV shows returning to the air last night (even if it was an old episode), I'm drafting a poll. As I watched the show, I began to wonder how I would rank it compared to my other favorite programs and the task just became too daunting.

How do I compare Thundercats, Voltron, The Transformers, Dungeons and Dragons, GIJoe, A-Team, HeMan, etc. to Angel, Boston Legal, Dawson's Creek, Saved by the Bell, Swan's Crossing (hahaha, just kidding), X-Files, etc.?

Simply put, I can't. Not just because the shows are so different in their target audiences but because I'M so different from when I watched those early shows.

SO, to narrow it down, how about your three favorite shows from your adult years. What do I mean by "adult", exactly? Well, how about from at least highschool forward. If it's easier to do it from post-highschool or post-college forward, feel free to consider that the cutoff.

Have fun!

Luckily, I dont watch THAT much TV, so this is not toooo hard!

Ill do post high school.

1) Everybody Loves Raymond

2) Will & Grace

3) Law & Order SVU

Honorable mentions: Friend and Seinfeld, I like both, but prefer the above

Ultimately, my favorite thing to watch on TV is HALO 2!

This is easy for me-- because aside from ESPN programming and Mets games (which are few and far between), I really only tune in to watch three television shows.

1) Everybody Loves Raymond
2) Seinfeld
3) Frasier

If I went back to my high school TV regiment, it would have certainly been the Simpsons, Seinfeld, and Wings, but alas-- that was more than 5 years ago.

This was difficult because i really only watch like 4 or 5 shows and I watch them because I like all of them, but if I HAD to pick three I guess they would be (in no particular order)

1. The Sopranos
2. Sex in the City
3. Everybody Loves Raymond

Wow, what's with the Everybody Loves Raymond popularity in the under 40 crowd?

No real surprises though so far. We must've talked about this too much or too often. Maybe next I'll go to "favorite three TV shows as a youth", that might provide some new insights.

We'll see what everybody else says.

1) Desparate Housewives
2) Law and Order: SVU
3) I can't believe I am actually going to write this down....The Golden Girls.

Awesome.

Understanding that I'm not including any sporting events, (for if I were to do so, Michigan football games on Saturday would be my number one and there would be many other sporting events to follow) I would choose, in alphabetical order ...

1) Angel
2) Boston Legal
3) Dawson's Creek

with honorable mentions to the X-Files, The Lone Gunmen and, of course, G-String Divas (j/k :-)

Dopey, I thought they made you learn how to count before you were allowed to teach? Anyhow, I'm making a tossup for one of my entires, so I'm right there with you.

Anyhow, my three, in no particular order:
- The Simpsons (of course)
- Law and Order (no stupid SVU wannabe-ism)
- Futurama/Firefly (for the Science Fiction slot)

Fredo,
I never knew you had a sci-fi side. I was borderline shocked to see the X-Files in your top 3 list. As for Laguna Beach - I've only ever seen a couple minutes of it when Karen and Mike had it on but it might be the most annoying show on TV (some of those chicks are SERIOUSLY hot though :-)

Parker,
While I didn't list Friends, some episodes are really funny ... just not enough of them to make my list. Same with Malcolm in the Middle which I started watching while waiting for the X-Files to come on Sunday nights. Some episodes, I laughed my ass off, others, were as bad as Laguna Beach :-)

You didn't know I had a sci-fi side?? Hmm... i started watching the show religiously when it came out (i was 12) and had since taped every single episode up until I left for college. Unfortunately, those were the days before dvd's and I still need to purchase the collection. As soon as i clicked the 'post' button, i kicked myself because I left out one of my favorite shows of all-- and probably my favorite show right now: Nip/Tuck. It's been a year since the last season, which could be why it slipped my mind. I am anxious for the 2nd season DVDs to be released. As for Laguna Beach, its lame, scripted and purely high school, but nonetheless, its entertaining. I dont know about hot girls on that show, but as for hot GUYS, no one beats those pretty boys of Nip/Tuck :)
