same sky

The sky outside my office window looked exactly the same from when I got here around 9:00am until now (about 4:00pm).

When I first opened my eyes this morning, I had no idea what time it was. By the amount of light pouring through my windows, I had guessed that it was about 6:00am. Much to my dismay, the clock showed almost 8:00am! I casually reached over and adjusted my alarm clock to patiently refrain from waking me for another half hour. When that half hour passed, I was disappointed to see that it was still no brighter than it had been.

It took a lot more effort than usual to motivate my ass to get out of bed this morning and, while I was pretty productive on a very slow day at work, I almost regret getting up in the first place. These typically overcast days in the valley are GREAT for staying in bed and reading ALL day. I haven’t done that in quite a while now and I miss it. Gloomy day, comfy clothes, warm bed, silent house and a good book make for a great day of escape.

I couldn't agree more. Yesterday I slept right through my alarm and if it wasn't for your sister I would have been late for work. December days are always gloomy except for the fact that we have Xmas to look forward too. The worst time to get up is during the months of January and February when all you can think of is Spring because you are so damn tired of the cold.

It is funny to read this for me. In my neighborhood, it might stay overcast all day long, every day for weeks. But, I like it. I couldn't agree more....a great reason to sit in front of the fire, read a book and love the fog. But, just like you, I have to forget that lovely idea and bust through the fog to work :( Luckily, because this city is so crazy, its usually sunny where I work, so, it works out ok.

As strange as it may be, I really do miss those chilly overcast days. On Thanksgiving it was a mild 83, and on X-mas it might dip down to about 80 with a few passing clouds. I love the weather here (hawaii) most of the time, but right now, what I wouldn't give to have it cold enough for a sweater and a nice fleece blanket. The holidays just aren't the same. I guess its harder than I though to take the valley out of the girl (lehigh or happy).

I hate the rain. But I live for the clouds. Give me a damp, chilly, cloudy day any old time and I'll be as happy as a clam (one not being eaten, of course.)

(don't you love the cliche thrown in at the end? a nice allusion to an earlier post-- now that's what I call a dedicated commenter.)

Yeah, seasons are nice for changing out wardrobes and revisiting clothing that hasn't been worn in months. The seasons are great for breaking up a long year. They're also beautiful in the northeast and that's why I have a tough time leaving. (Hawaii does look beautiful from your pictures though.)

As for the cliche Robb, it's been noted and appreciated.

by the way, lindsay...my best friend lives on Oahu...she is always looking for friends. apparently, she finds it hard to meet a lot of people there. if you live there too, she goes to hawaii pacific university for her grad degree. if you need a friend too, i can pass on her phone number to you ;)

just a thought
