dreamcatcher

Okay, I'm sure everyone is familiar with the round-ish, American Indian devices created with the intention of "catching" good dreams in their webs. Answer me this, why the hell do people have them hanging from their rearview mirrors?!? Are they REALLY hoping to catch a good dream behind the wheel?!? Have these people been so unimpressed by their mundane dreams while driving that they've actually hung Dreamcatchers in hopes of getting better dreams?!? WTF?!?

Note: I actually like the notion of Dreamcatchers in a bedroom or around the house. However, I think hanging one in the car is about as stupid as hanging your graduation tassle, a CD, a fake-ass crystal or ANYTHING other than a mandatory parking pass.

They're distracting to other drivers and they limit your own field of view. Grow up and knock that shit off.

As far as I can tell: there can be no compelling argument against this logic. :-)

I am going to have to correct Languorous on this one, Dreamcatchers are used to catch nightmares not good dreams. They catch and trap them from happening.

Dreamcatchers from rearview mirrors? Definitely a PA thing :)
And, to beat Jon at the chance, no, people from NY do NOT have bagels hanging from their cars.
Thanks :)

To talk about something a bit more positive, although I totally agree with Tom's point...

All this talk about dreamcatchers takes me back to elementary school...Mrs. Rissell's art class...i think i still have my dreamcatcher somewhere.... Good memories!

and I believe the correct terminology for "fake-ass crystal" is BLING-BLING (so I've heard from my ghetto contemporaries)! :-)

nah, bling-bling is not necessarily fake.

in some cases bling-bling is real... but not when it's hanging from the following:

CRX's, Honda Civic's, Toyota Camry's, Nissan Maxima's, Altima's, etc. and any Cadillac pre-1993.

hahaha, yeah, I wanted to hang a small version of a ten-gallon hat from my rearview mirror. I dont know, I am not a big fan of hanging stuff on your mirror, but I guess if you hang something relatively small there, that it doesnt distract you and others, hey who am I to be the rearview mirror police. Now when my boy Rico Suave is sitting practically on the ground in his car, with a big ass shiny cd hanging from his mirror, that shit bothers me. And Christina, I can almost guarantee that if you dont have a bagel hanging from your mirror, you probably just hang your munderware there! bwahahaha
