damn, so close

I made a conscious decision to avoid any and all season premieres this fall and, up until this evening, I had only seen two. One show was According to Jim and it's a show I've watched since its inception and I'll probably watch until they cancel it. The other, NYPD Blue, I've watched on and off again since its premiere and regardless of the fact that my boy, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, is on the show, it's the show's last year and I'm gonna get my fix before it's gone. One night a week, two shows, no biggie. That shouldn't be too terribly difficult to fit in every week.

Well, tonight, as I was waiting on some other people, I decided to just chill and flip on the TV. Lo and behold, despite my best efforts, I sit down for the beginning of The Mountain and I sit through the entire show. I think I'm hooked. Trust me people, this is a very slippery slope. Heed my warnings, don't watch TV in Sept. and Oct. or risk losing hours of time every week until the spring when the seasons end!

I agree The Mountain was a good show. I now officially of watched the pilots of 5 new shows and all of them I like. CSI NY, Hawaii, Medical Investigators, The Mountain, and Jack & Bobby. Dr. Vegas begins this week and that show looks really good also. I am already hooked on CSI Miami and CSI the original. Besides all of the reality TV and sports. Damn, I have to get a life. At least I can still be Languorous in NCAA oh, that's right my QB likes to throw game losing interceptions for TD's with only 12 seconds left in the game.

hmmmmm, Were you the Pirates again Mike? hahahahaha look, this TV thing is really easy. Unless its sports, turn the God damn thing off. Yeah, there are a few shows on tv that are worth watching there is no question. But really, even the most amusing ones.... cmon, its stupid television? I dont think Ive found one intriguing enough to follow regularly since I was in middle school. If I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING else to do, Ill flip the tube on, but other than that, Id rather go jog, play my guitar, read a magazine, hang out, or shit, even play a video game which at least requires some active participation. That is why I like watching football on tv, because it REQUIRES my active participation as I scream so loud the neighbors hear me ;-)

also, I want to commend Tom's blog for not screwing up everytime I post! It's nice to be able to post without errors.....perhaps I can talk to my "webmaster" and see if he can fix our problem :-)

Let me break this down. I could get by in life with the following television programming:
1) Sports (ESPN, Fox, and WPIX)
2) The Simpsons (seasons 1-8)
3) reruns of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Seinfeld"

All those primetime dramas and action shows don't do it for me-- especially that particularly awful and lame excuse for entertainment, 24. Worst show EVER!

But seriously, if it aint sports or in syndication (withstood the test of time), I usually pass that shit by.

It's all about the Power Block on Spike:
- Car&Driver TV
(otherwise known as BMW&Driver TV)
- Horsepower
- Trucks
Plus Dannica Patrick...one fine piece of programming!

OKay, so I'm definitely a fan of television and I do love season premieres! The only soapish drama I've set down to watch is Jack & Bobby, which turned out to be surprisingly good; and as for all the rest, I'm more of a reality-tv junkie. Im addicted to "Renovate my Family," "Trading Spouses," "The Apprentice," and "Dr. 90210." I wouldnt go so far as to say those shows are quality programs and Im putting my time to good use, but nonetheless, they are entertaining.

Not to make a broad blanket statement-- but season premieres notoriously SUCK! As does most primetime television!

A good rule of thumb ... whenever you have to preface your thought with "Not to make a broad blanket statement", it's probably better to leave the thought unsaid.

Its just easier to make a generalization than to pick apart each cable network's uninspired, hackneyed attempt at a fall schedule.

haha, I'm not a huge fan of most of the programming on TV but, damn, is there no limit to what the Fillmans can hate on?

Posted by: languorous at September 25, 2004 09:51 AM

You name it. I hate it! :-)
