After getting to bed early with a sinus headache last night, I awoke to a blazingly bright morning sun for the first time in days. Feeling rather refreshed from a long night's sleep, I broke out my digi cam and headed to the Rose Garden with a renewed sense of photographic ambition. Before I say anymore, I'd like to make excuses.
Shooting nature in the Lehigh Valley can be difficult for several reasons. First, it's humid damn near all the time and "hazy" just doesn't do it justice. Second, the sky is almost always overcast making landscapes difficult to photograph unless you're going for "ominous". Thirdly, when it IS nice enough to get out and snap some pictures, I usually go out, walk around aimlessly and do more thinking than shooting. Lastly, I'm not a very good photographer.
Here are some of the better ones. (By "better" I mean I can stand to look at them anyway.)

Do you feel the need to make excuses in case one of J's friends happens to click the 'Chasm' link on his 'blog?
Posted by: Garrett at June 20, 2004 12:01 PMHa, not at all. I make excuses indiscriminately to all onlookers.
Posted by: languorous at June 20, 2004 12:56 PMYou're not a good photographer? I beg to differ... what you are not good at is self-deprication, which I guess isn't such a bad thing :) I love the photos of the bridge and the black and white one with the pink(ish) flowers...
Believe it or not, the picture of Haas Tower you gave me for graduation is sitting by my window in my new apartment. So, while your photographs might not be gracing the covers of National Geographic anytime soon, at least they serve as art on the walls of a little place on East 31st street in the greatest city in world :-)
Job well done.
These are nice shots, great work on the color. Are the colors straight from the camera, or corrected in Photoshop?
I must say that the diagonal ones DO make me rather dizzy, though. Hope that's what you were going for. :)
Posted by: Jason at June 21, 2004 01:03 AMAh, let's see, the colors are all natural except for the black and white one (obviously). The only one to be edited was the water lilly ... there was some dirt on it that I stamped out, otherwise, all natural. Thanks.
